The Sunrise Coast is steeped in rich history and heritage, which combined with the blend and variety of galleries, museums and theatres creates the ideal cultural experience for any visitor.

Visitors to the area will be able to experience and learn about this charming part of the country at a number of museums and locations throughout The Sunrise Coast. Collections and displays range from the world famous Lowestoft Porcelain to information on the unique moving station platform at the Halesworth Station Museum. Visitors will also be able to ride a bus or tram at the East Anglia Transport Museum or step on board a floating museum and take a look into the life of a lifeboat crew..
New for 2010 sees the reopening of the recently refurbished and extended Lowestoft and North Suffolk Maritime Museum

Theatre and cinema lovers will enjoy the wide choice of entertainment on offer from the latest movies at a modern cinema to the unique cosy setting of Southwold Picture Palace.

Theatre programmes range from small community and amateur dramatic productions to world famous ballet or national touring productions.

The 17th Century Bungay Fisher Theatre has proved a popular venue since it’s reopening in 2006. The Cut in Halesworth attracts a wealth of well-known performers and is the home of the HighTide Festival, whilst Lowestoft Marina Theatre is the eastern region’s home to the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and hosts a full programme of world famous acts.

Visitors to The Sunrise Coast wishing to experience local art will be well catered for, with a large number of galleries located throughout the district. Artists themselves will find a great deal of opportunities to paint at some ideal locations throughout the Sunrise Coast area.

Somerleyton Hall is one of the cultural icons of The Sunrise Coast. With a deep and interesting history and wonderful gardens including a hedge maze, a visit to Somerleyton Hall will capture all the history and architecture of this Victorian stately home.
