Cycling, is a wonderful way of experiencing the delights of The Sunrise Coast. With no traffic queues or timetables to keep to and a gently rolling landscape, cycling provides a wonderful sense of freedom as you explore and enjoy at your leisure.
To further enhance your cycling experience, why not check out cycle routes that run through The Sunrise Coast. National Cycle Route 1, the North Sea Cycle Route, Regional Route 30 and the Suffolk Coastal Cycle Route all pass through and if you don’t want to bring your bike, there are a number of hire shops ready to help you.
National Express East Anglia provides cycle facilities on many of their trains, as well as bike racks on its local stations. Using the train is an excellent way of making the most of the area and having a well-earned rest in between destinations.
With countryside trails and coastal walks providing an escape to nature, there is something for both experienced walkers as well as those preferring to take things at a more leisurely pace. Watch the natural world flourish as you walk The Suffolk Coast and Heaths Path, winding through an area of outstanding natural beauty, brimming with an abundance of wildlife and flowers. Further inland the Bigod Way, The Angles Way and the Beccles Marsh Trail are just waiting to be discovered.
There are not many better ways to explore the peaceful Suffolk Countryside than by horseback. Whether you are an experienced rider or a beginner, the riding schools within The Sunrise Coast offer lessons and rides across fields, through woodland and along the sand and shingle beaches in the area.
For a leisurely day out on the fairway, head for our superb 9 and 18 hole golf courses, where visitors are always welcome. Or if you prefer, why not try one of the pitch and putt or crazy golf courses on offer.
With miles of beautiful rivers, superb stretches of coastline and the southern gateway to The Broads on our doorstep, the area is perfectly suited for the water enthusiasts amongst you. From the River Blyth at Southwold to the Waveney, which runs through Lowestoft, Oulton Broad, Beccles and Bungay, you will find a wide choice of activities and pastimes available including scuba diving, jet skiing, yachting, cruising, windsurfing, swimming, canoeing and fishing.
If you fancy something a little more adventurous, the Coastal Voyager is a unique boating experience, which sails from Southwold. Providing short, high-speed fun trips around Sole Bay to longer full day trips, the Voyager is an experience not to be missed.
