Beaches
The Sunrise Coast has some of the best beaches in the country, and the awards to prove it!
For 2009, six of The Sunrise Coast’s beaches won awards that prove that The Sunrise Coast has achieved the highest levels of cleanliness and safety possible. Lowestoft North of Claremont Pier and Lowestoft South of Claremont Pier Resort beaches were awarded the prestigious FEE Blue Flag Awards. Kessingland, Southwold Denes, Southwold Pier and Southwold North of Pier beaches were awarded Keep Britain Tidy Quality Coast Awards.
Gently sloping golden beaches provide the ideal place for you to relax and for children to indulge in swimming, sandcastle building and outdoor games. There are many cafes, kiosks and restaurants to be found along our beautiful promenade where you can choose a light bite, traditional fish & chips or that much-deserved ice cream.
Take a walk along Lowestoft seafront, where children will soon be trying to choose from the variety of activities available, including having fun dancing around in the Royal Plain Fountains, playing in the sand or visiting ‘Mayhem Adventure Play’ – an indoor soft play area located at the East Point Pavilion – which is an ideal place for children to let off steam!
The uncommercialised rural beaches along The Sunrise Coast are ideal if you enjoy walking along the shoreline, wandering through the dunes or just relaxing and soaking up the sun in peaceful surroundings.
A watchful eye is kept over the resort beaches at Lowestoft and Southwold, as fully trained lifeguards patrol them.
Colourful, traditional beach huts overlook the award-winning beaches at
Lowestoft and
Southwold. The beach huts can be hired on a daily, weekly or seasonal basis throughout the summer months
