2012 is packed full of exciting events here on The Sunrise Coast!

8th April saw the first opening this year of Henstead Exotic Gardens to the public.This one acre exotic garden sits in an excellent south facing microclimate and is a truly remarkable achievement created  over 7 years by it's owner. This year for the first time it will be open on Wednesday afternoons  from 4th July - 9th September.

5th-7th May sees 'Something Fishy' going on in Lowestoft and Southwold. Local museums and other organisations are inviting you to 'Hook onto Heritage' and enjoy a weekend of free visits and activities to mark the start of their summer season. May 5th  sees ' Net to the Plate' a three course taste of local fishing history in Lowestoft, 6th continues with the Alfred Corry Lifeboat Museum in Southwold treating visitors to some musical entertainment and on the 7th the Lowestoft Maritime Museum is opening its doors for stories, activities and fascinating facts about the town's connections with fishing and the sea.

The extremely popular East Anglian Dragon Boat Festival will again be returning to Nicholas Everitt Park, Oulton Broad on the 27th May.  For further information or to enter a team please visit here.

The Queen's Diamond Jubilee brings a bank holiday weekend brimming with exciting events and things to do. The 2nd - 4th June sees the return of Thundercat Racing to Lowestoft Seafront, with the thrilling spectacle of high-speed inflatable powerboats hitting the seas along the coastline. 3rd June sees the Big Jubilee Lunch event, giving you a chance to celebrate  the Queen's 60 year reign by getting together with friends and neighbours in your local communities and on 4th June the National Diamond Jubilee Beacons will be lit right across the world as part of the events announced by Buckingham Palace as part of the weekend of Jubilee celebrations.

23rd and 24th June sees the return of the Lowestoft Seafront Air Festival, this year for the first time over a weekend. 2 action packed days will fill the seafront with 4 hours of flying displays each day, along with stalls, military displays and exhibitions,a wealth of  food and drink stalls and funfair rides and simulators, something for all the family.

A visit to the area by the Olympic Torch is the big event this July. For us, 5th July is the day it will travel through this area, offering the opportunity of a lifetime to see the Olympic Torch pass within an hour's journey time of 95% of the population. Leaving Norwich in the morning, it will pass through Lowestoft and then on to Wrentham and Southwold before heading south through Suffolk Coastal.
